Aquastar is one of the Gods of divers from the '60s up until the '80s!

Benthos I is the brother of Benthos 500, but it's far more rare and it comes extremely rare on the market! A very small number has been manufactured in the late seventies and early eighties.

Unlike the Benthos 500, this one has a monobloc case. This model has a timer with flyback function built into the movement, along with a traditional unidirectional rotating diver's bezel.

You can find the same watch under Lemania brand!

This one is in really STUNNING condition, with minor signs of use! The case and the bezel retain the original brushed and polished finish, the original dial is in very good condition and never restored, it has the original tritium! The hands were professionally relumed with Bergeon 5680, the colour matches the dial. As you can see in the picture, all tritium/lume is glowing in the dark. The mineral crystal is original and in perfect condition. The original screw down marked crown is also perfect.

The watch has been fully serviced in 07.2023, completely dismantled, cleaned, oiled and adjusted, it works excellent. The minute counter is working and resets as it should.

The size of the watch is 43x44mm. It comes on a new diver rubber strap, as close to the original as I could get.

Aquastar was founded in 1962 by Frédéric Robert, an experienced Scuba diver and sailor. As the name suggests, they specialized in diver's watches. Soon they expanded their production to also include regatta watches, but all the time their main focus was the development of quality watches for the emerging Scuba diving community. Frédéric Robert did not stay for long though. In 1967 he moved to Omega and became an advisor in the development of the Seamaster models. He is credited for the creation of the Seamaster 600 or ‘Ploprof' among a number of other ‘Professional’ models like the ‘Omega Flightmaster’ and ‘Seamaster 120 Big Blue’. A ‘Marine Unit’ was set up at Omega under his stewardship, and, by 1968, the framework for the ‘Ploprof’ as we know today was established in Robert’s unit.

General terms and conditions:

*I describe my watches with honesty and the best of my knowledge, I want all my buyers to have a smooth, transparent and pleasant transaction. If you have questions or other requests, please ask me before you buy. I don’t accept returns, partial refunds or buyer's remorse, so, if you are not sure you want to buy one of my watches, please don’t do it.

**You are buying a vintage watch, you can’t expect to look as new unless is stated in the description. Pictures are part of the description, please study them carefully! Generally speaking, the watches are looking much better in real life than in the pictures because of the camera lens which pops out details that can’t be seen with the naked eye. If it’s something misrepresented by me, just send me a message, I will really appreciate your contribution. Vintage watches are not water protected, I don’t offer any guarantee about this. Vintage mechanical watches are not running like a Quartz, please do not expect to be perfect even if they are serviced and very well taken care of. The performance on the timegrapher must not be taken as a guarantee for future functionality. Although I pack my watches very carefully, issues may appear during shipping on long distances, the most common is the watch magnetisation, but, being sensitive and complex movements, in rare occasions other adjustments should be made by an experienced watchmaker. I am not responsible of ANY customs/import taxes.
