When it comes to a YLOD fault, lots of research in the gaming community points to the NEC Tokin capacitors failing, and the solution to this is to replace a NEC Cap with alternative low ESR 470uf caps, these need to be of a certain quality and profile to fit in place of the NEC Tokin.
Supplied in packs of 4 (enough to replace one Tokin)
Four of these 470uf capacitors are needed to replace a single NEC tokin, a PS3 can have a different number of Tokin, so you please order according to the number of tokin you will be replacing, or example if you are replacing 4 tokin, then please order a quantity of 4, you will receive 16 caps.
We offer two types of capacitor kit, one has an even lower ESR which is technically preferable, but either type are suitable, please select the ones you require from the drop down box.
1) Low ESR Panasonic tantalum which are the most commonly used capacitors for this type of repair.
2) Even lower ESR Panasonic Aluminum polymer - It is preferable to use the lowest ESR when replacing the NEC Tokin, so we provide these as an option.
This repair requires advanced repair and soldering skills, recommended for trained electronics professionals only.
