This medal commemorates Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute National Technical University of Ukraine. One of the largest educational institutions in Ukraine and Europe, the university was founded in 1898. The university, which for many years has been among the top three Ukrainian educational institutions, plays an important role in training highly qualified engineers and academicians.

Obverse: there is the university’s main building, above which are Ukraine’s small coat of arms and the year the university was founded – 1898; there are the following circular legends: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ ТЕХНІЧНИЙ (National Technical) (above), УНІВЕРСИТЕТ УКРАЇНИ (University of Ukraine) (beneath).

Reverse: there is an image of Sikorsky, to the right of which are the university coat of arms and the following Sikorsky’s quote: “Знімаю капелюха перед альма-матер, яка підготувала мене до підкорення неба” (I take my hat off to my alma mater, which trained me to conquer the sky); beneath are the medal issue year – 2018 and the mint mark of the NBU Banknote Printing and Minting Works; above is the following semicircular legend: КПІ ім. ІГОРЯ СІКОРСЬКОГО (Igor Sikorsky KPI).
