A gorgeous hand-decorated P Ipsens Enke small dish with a sculpted lobster and some raised seashell and seaweed motifs. Stunning detail. Really rare—I’ve only seen one other example of this design, long since sold. Other Ipsen pieces in this style are attributed by experts to artist Axel Sorensen in the 1930s, which is consistent with the mark dating (PIE, crown, Denmark). Antique dealers charge over $300 for similar pieces.

This piece is in excellent condition, with no chips or noteworthy wear that I can see. On the bottom, along the ring/foot of the dish, there’s some mild wear to the glaze. Purchased from the estate of an art collector, who treated it like the art object that it is. An exquisite example of early 20th century Danish pottery. The diameter is about 5 inches. (Shown with a ruler in the photos.)

Please let me know if you’d like to see any additional photos, or have any questions about provenance—the original owner’s name was kept private by the estate sale company that sold it to me, but I can ask if they’d be willing to share some details.

As with all fragile and/or antique objects, I will ship this very well-padded with foam, paper, bubble wrap, etc. filling the box. Because of its worth at retail (on 1stdibs, etc., way more than I’m asking), I’ll pay to insure it for the full value when shipping. (Buyer just covers the base shipping cost.)
