Circa 1940's. Excellent  conditionSought after items of the Ndebele and make excellent displays. I am unable to detail every single missing bead or imperfection, please examine photographs carefully, as they form part of the description. 
Ndebele women wore these long beaded strips to signify that her son was undergoing the initiation ceremony and indicated that she had now attained a higher status in Ndebele society. It symbolized tears joy as her son had achieved manhood as well as the sorrow at losing him to the adult world
