Hello and welcome to splendid specimens

Tanzanite is an incredibly rare and natural gemstone that is only found in one location in the world.

Found under mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. This exotic gemstone can only be found in one 7 klm location, deep in the earths crust.

Tanzanite is always heated to create that deep purple/blue colour that we all know so well.

This species is usually A light brown too deep brown tone before heat but sometimes very rarely you will find Tanzanite naturally without treatment in green, lavender ,blue, silver, bi colour and on rare occasions pink.

This Tanzanite we have is 100% natural, no treatment and displays A striking silver with A suggestion of blue / green. As this gemstone is dichroic it has the ability to change colour depending on the angle that the gemstone is being viewed from. People who have seen this in person have mentioned it is difficult to describe the colour because it is so unique.

I have included many photographs of angles that are not ideal for photographing gemstones but I wanted to showcase the colour spectrum in this gemstone. Colour is very important when it comes to natural and untreated gemstones like this.

This precision cut gemstone measures - 7.90 x 6.80 x 3.95 mm

When you find Tanzanite in this very rare natural colour, it is very important that the gem has the perfect cut.

This gemstone took five months of travelling overseas to find. We hand selected the material to make sure that everybody at splendid specimens had the opportunity to see and purchase some very rare and unique colours in natural untreated Tanzanite.

We opted for a traditional overcut design with many facets in the pavilion of the gemstone to optimise its dispersion Luster and all-round beauty.

A generous and tasteful size at 2.10 CRT and Boasting loupe clean clarity. A gemstone of this calibre is Absolutely ideal for an engagement ring, pendant or special piece of jewelry to keep for a lifetime. Because this gemstone has had no treatment and has a full bodied lavender colour throughout the entire gemstone it is ideal for collectors or as an investment piece.

Tanzanite is a member of the mineral family zoisite, which has been known about for nearly two centuries. Zoisite occurs in a number of varieties, the most sought after being tanzanite.

These colours are often collected by gemstone enthusiasts due to their rarity. Tanzanite is 1000 times rarer than diamond and even more rare when it is untreated bi colours or pink.

I have spent the past five months overseas to source only the very best and most beautiful colour varieties available in this species. We are pleased to be able to offer green, blue, purple, silver blue, purple orange and even the highly sought after an incredibly rare pink.

Tanzanite is a favourite among investors as sadly this species of gemstone is nearly exhausted.
