Vintage Staffordshire Style Hand Painted Porcelain Spill Vase

PLEASE NOTE THE FLOWERS in pictures 2 and 3 ARE NOT INCLUDED. I had just been asked for a photo of it with flowers by a potential customer, so thought I would share in case someone else was wanting to see what it looks like with flowers.

This lovely vase has so much to look at!  it depicts an English countryside farm scene. There is a shepherd holding a flower bouquet, standing in front of a tree, with his faithful sheepdog by his side, watching over the sheep they are protecting. Scattered on the green grass covered ground is an abundance of fruit. On the tree there is an abundance of wildlife, with happy birds (even one on his hat) and a merry squirrel. Also, in the tree, lurks a large yellow snake. The base is fashioned as a brick walled enclosure around the farm scene with a green gate.

I have seen this described as an alleghorical piece called "The Good Shepherd in the Garden of Eden".

The tree's branches are hollow so as to act as a vase for spills (of for single stem flowers).

While this is not the original Staffordshire piece, it is a fine reproduction, with great attention to detail.

It measures approx. 8 1/4" tall x 8" diameter.

It weighs over 4 lbs. prior to packaging.

It is in VERY GOOD CONDITION ~ The only flaw I find is a very fine surface only hairline visible on the bottom of the vase, along with some mild crazing visible on the bottom when turned over. No other nicks, chips, cracks, flea bites, or damage.

If you have any questions please ask.

Thanks for Looking!
