Accumulator – Ferrari F1

The accumulator is responsible for storing the hydraulic system pressure for later access by the actuators. The bladder accumulator has two cells: one cell that stores the hydraulic fluid and one cell that contains a gas to create back pressure. Both cells are separated from each other by a membrane. It is precisely this type of pressure accumulator that has a limited service life and a frequent reason for failure is that the gas leaks out of the cell. As a result, the system is no longer able to store sufficient pressure. It often happens that the hydraulic pump runs constantly.
