Smokey Bear / Forest Service / Woodsy Owl items.

Circa 1950’s – 1980’s

(1) original (circa 1950’s) advertising automobile paper litter bag for Butson’s Food Centers John Day Oregon, Burns Oregon, and Payette Idaho - Featuring SMOKEY BEAR. The bag points out that not only is litter a ‘National Disgrace’ and health hazard, but also a fire hazard. The patent number on this item (2,234,180) indicates 1941. Smokey was first used as a symbol in 1944. By the 1960’s to the 1970’s Smokey litter bags were being made of plastic. The bag measures 10-3/4” x 8-1/2”.

 

(2) 1980 Junior Forest Ranger Handbook "FS-338". Measures 5.5” x 8.5”. 22 pages, with Smokey on the front cover.

 

(2) small brochures “Make Campfires Safe!” December 1972,  with Smokey Bear logo. Measures 3.5” x 6”.

 

(2) Smokey The Bear "HELP SMOKEY PREVENT WILDFIRES" Pinback Button (2.5” diameter). 16 USC 580 P-4.

These eleven (11) vintage items are in excellent condition with no flaws of note.
