I was stunned when I shot some EFKE, but you have to follow the instructions completely, including temperature. It works :)
It seems complicated but it's not, read it over a few times and you'll be fine. It's cheap too Photographers Formulary has small packets that are just the right size for 1000 mls. Empty the packet into a 1000 ml (at least) empty glass bottle.
Pour in 750 mls of hot water and stir it continuously, it takes a long while to go into solution. Then fill it to the 1000 ml line. Don't just dump it into 1000 mls water because the concentration will be different.
