This Victorian collar box is a recent estate sale find. It is in "as found" condition and is being offered as such.
The collar box is about 5-1/2" high and 6-1/4" in diameter. The box and lid are covered with black faux leather that is in remarkably good condition given its age. The lid has an inset flip top storage container for buttons and studs. As seen from the underside of the lid, the bottom of the storage container is marked "PAT. MAY 27 '90". The edge of the metal closure ring is marked "PAT. MARCH 25,1890". Both of these are shown in the photos.
