Interesting and useful vintage item suitable for the photography/videography collector, this model 1038 CSM is in working condition with some wear issues which are listed. Made of several different materials including aluminum, steel and plastic, item has wear and tear to some exterior elements, especially the black paint coating of the static top portions of the extendable legs, all other components appear to function as designed and intended. Item’s measurements are as follows: total length from plate top to retracted leg bottoms is about 26”, legs section length retracted is about 18” and fully extended about 36”, length from top of the plate to collar is 4”, plate/platform measures about 3” x 3”, detachable steering rod is about 7.5” long. Star D, model 1038 CSM, manufactured by Davidson Manufacturing Company, Los Angeles, Calif., USA, no date of manufacture indicated on the item, though my research has shown that this model was manufactured in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s.
