Up for sale is a limited edition of Robert Margerit's Pretextes published in 1951 by Aux Depens d'un Groupe d'Amateurs.  The book measures 13" X 10" and is 84 pages in length, made up of unbound 8-page signatures that are housed inside reddish-brown boards in a slipcase.  It is one of 30 copies (out of a total edition of 205 copies) that include an initialed sketch along with an additional suite of 10 drypoints with remarques by the artist (all of the engravings that are inside the book itself are shown in photos 8-17, but the next pair of photos show 4 of the drypoints with remarques that are in a separate portfolio at the back of the book).  The sketch (2nd photo) is a bit smaller than the drypoints, with the sheet measuring approximately 9.75" X 7.75".  It has a couple small pin-prick holes below the figure (the holes are directly below the figure's right elbow and right foot) which I assume are original to it, though I'm not certain about that.  The contents of the book are in very good overall shape, but the slipcase and outer boards exhibits moderate overall wear, including general edge and corner wear along with notable fading to the spine.  Additionally, there are some numbers written in ink at the head of the spine (it appears to be "2,400" perhaps the book's price in francs long ago--see 22nd photo).  For what it's worth, this book was previously in the collection of a rare book librarian, and her notes about it are shown in the final photo.  Please be sure to fully enlarge the provided photos, and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
