_______________________________________________________________NOT part of the kit: 1 Radio Flyer or similar wagon, that contains the front axle and the pan along with a handle and 4 wheels. 1 or more kids (or adults under the weight limit) Some time to assemble the kit, should take around 20 minutes to fully assemble the kit depending on if you're mounting the ATW wagon or basic model 18 style and how attentive you are to assembly instructions. (Hint: Mounting the pan to the skid plate is the very last step before you're ready to test it out.) Basic hand tools, wrench, screw driver, hex key (drill and drill bit if mounting an alternate wagon brand.)

Custom Order: Custom radio flyer wagon. (price varies) Any combination of parts and add ons you want. Extra long handle extensions, more axle mounts, multiple skid plates, unique textures and more. Having your local powder coater do the painting is cheaper and gives less chance of getting scuffs from shipping and handling in UPS or other carriers trucks on its way to you. Want a stainless steel version (this would be really heavy), or custom engraved lettering, we can do that in a custom order. (extended lead times and may require waiting till next batch of kits are in fabrication stage unless you really want to pay the full setup fee for all the stages of fabrication of these kits)
We have one textured plate in stock and can match it up with what ever axle style you want (as long as the axles are in stock,) just send us a custom order request and it will be $25 more than what ever base kit you choose below.
Standard Kit: 2021 skid plate with standard 2021 axles (same as 2018 axles really) and all hardware required to lower your own radio flyer. Has set of holes for the older radio flyer larger pan size and the newer radio flyer smaller pan size.
Cambered Kit: 2021 skid plate with cambered 2021 axles (a bit wider than the 2018 axles) and all hardware required to lower your own radio flyer. Has set of holes for the older radio flyer larger pan size and the newer radio flyer smaller pan size.
ATW Standard Kit: 2021 skid plate with standard 2021 axles (same as 2018 axles really) and all hardware required to lower your own radio flyer. Has set of holes for the older radio flyer larger pan size and the newer radio flyer smaller pan size. Has longer axle bolts for mounting the balloon tires of the ATW radio flyer kits. Recommended option if you want to cut the bolt head off and attach go-cart tires with an adapter hub system.
ATW Camber Kit: 2021 skid plate with cambered 2021 axles (a bit wider than the 2018 axles) and all hardware required to lower your own radio flyer. Has set of holes for the older radio flyer larger pan size and the newer radio flyer smaller pan size. Recommended option if you want to cut the bolt head off and attach go-cart tires with an adapter hub system, though with the camber option you might need a larger offset to get the tires away from the wagon.
H9: Handle 9, Approximately 9" long handle extension and hardware to attach to radio flyer handle. Newer 2018 or so range handles from radio flyer need to have the end cut off and a new hole drilled for this to work properly since they changed how they made the handles. Older wagon handles fit snug and simple bolt together style assembly with quick release push button between the handle and handle extension for easier transporting of wagon in vehicles.
H12: Handle 12, Approximately 12" long handle extension and hardware to attach to radio flyer handle. Newer 2018 or so range handles from radio flyer need to have the end cut off and a new hole drilled for this to work properly since they changed how they made the handles. Other design or product requests: Feel free to contact me for any design upgrade ideas or other add ons. If I get enough requests I’ll try to get one in the works and make them available for purchase. Some people have requested trailer kits and longer handle extensions, the handle extensions are a good possibility though shipping them separate will make for a much pricier item than shipping with a skid plate that has lots of room to add small parts like this.

This is a custom made lowering kit for the Radio Flyer model 18 wagon with the wide pan lip and all the parts needed to lower your own Radio Flyer. This comes with all the parts needed to lower your own Radio Flyer but does not come with any of the Radio Flyer parts. This kit uses aluminum for the skid plate and rear axle holders with a stainless rear axle shaft and zinc plated steel nuts. The rear axles also have an open design to help prevent debris and water from collecting in a pocket. The care put into this design has created a lowering kit that will outlast the Radio Flyer Wagon, so long as it doesn't get ran over, but if you are in need of replacement parts message us and we can get you what you need. The entire assembly can be flipped over to create a flatbed wagon for those bulky items. The weight limit is 150 lbs due to the fact the plastic bearing of the Radio Flyer wheels are not designed for any heavier loads. We put in the extra effort to test multiple materials and thicknesses and keep it light weight to create our lowering kits with a turning radius of less than 6 feet. Most of our comparisons are between our 3/16" steel plate prototype and our old axle design from our first generation lowering kit that also used 1/4" aluminum as the main plate. The new 2021 style axle mounts still bolt directly to our older 2018 and 2015 skid plates, no drilling or other modifications needed.
Other customers have modified their kit or radio flyer parts to work with the Ranger Wagon, All Terrain Wagon and other brands of wagons. If you are wondering if your existing wagon will work with this kit feel free to message me in Etsy or Facebook and be prepared to do some measurements on your wagon. We do have some general clearance measurements you can reference on our Facebook site. Some customers even mount a pedal car or alternate ride onto this simple lowering kit.

The new 2021 model is similar to our 2018 and better than our original 2015 aluminum model. It has an updated skid plate design and new rear axles constructed from aluminum for better corrosion resistance than our old steel powder coated axles. The steel axles were bulky, less streamline and will rust after the paint is scratched or chipped off, the current model is all aluminum so you don't even need to paint it to protect it from the weather. It also features a threaded stainless steel shoulder bolt that provides a smoother bearing surface than the powder coated axles and the ability to change out your wheels without having to remove the push on cap. The new axle mounts even hide the bolts that hold them onto the skid plate for a cleaner smoother look. They also have 3 holes for three ride heights in the rear to get the look you want with out having to drill new holes like our 2015 style aluminum axles would require. The new 2021 style axle mounts still bolt directly to our older 2018 and 2015 skid plates, no drilling or other modifications needed.

Rust resistant without the need to powder coat, though it is ready to be painted your own unique color.Deflection of a steel plate is over 25% more than the New 2018 Aluminum Model.A full 150 lbs of weight placed at the front of the pan still won't make the skid plate drag the ground.Weight comparison: 1/4" Aluminum at about 12 lbs vs 3/16" Steel at over 25 lbsScratched aluminum skid plates won't be as sharp as a steel plate would be.
