VINTAGE WEDGWOOD COMMEMORATIVE PLATE

NEW YORK UNIVERSITY

100th ANNIVERSARY 1832 - 1932

SCHOOL OF COMMERCE

VINTAGE 1932 ORIGINAL!!

FANTASTIC CONDITION FOR AN ITEM NEARLY 100 YEARS OLD!

Made in the England

This commemorative plate was issued by Wedgwood in 1932 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the founding of New York University.  The plate was issued in a series that highlighted the important buildings on the NYU campus.  This particular plate is of the SCHOOL OF COMMERCE.  The plate measures roughly 10 1/2" in diameter and is made of ceramic porcelain.  The words "Made in England" and "Wedgwood" are imprinted on the back, along with what appears to be a production code that I cannot make out.  The glaze laid over the top of the plate contains a slight trace of uranium, causing the white areas of the picture in the center of the plate to emit a soft green glow when under UV light!

There are no cracks or scratches anywhere on the piece.  The only thing standing in the way of calling this plate pristine are two tiny flea bites, one on the back of the plate, and a smaller one on the side (Pics #13 and #14) positioned at about 2 o'clock on the right side of the plate.  Both of these flaws are exceptionally minor, hard to see, and do not detract from the eye appeal of the plate whatsoever!  Overall, this original VINTAGE piece is in FANTASTIC shape!  It has been well cared for in a smoke and pet-free home and would be a perfect addition to any commemorative plate collection!
