The "Star and Bar" was given the blue border in September 1943 (after being red) and the red horizontal stripe was added in January 1947. This marking continues to be used for non camouflaged aircraft. Cut out each marking using sharp scissors.
I recommend always using a good decal softener such as either Revell "DECAL Soft” or Tamiya "MARKFIT STRONG".
