An Edward VII Royal Mail Post Box in excellent condition.

Edward VII ruled for only 9 years between 1901 and 1910 and so these post boxes are very rare.
This one has been restored to its original condition and comes with a genuine Chubb lock and two numbered keys.

This box also still has the
Escutcheon lock cover, a key hole cover that prevents small boys breaking off pencils in the key hole and rendering your box un-openable. It's operated by the little bars called 'snibs' on the top of they keys. These mechanisms tended to rust up and so were removed in later years. This one survived and has been rust-treated and repainted and now operates well.

In the interests of full disclosure I should say that the box came to me with one of the flanges broken off so I've replaced it with a new one. Welding cast iron is always a little sketchy so I've also tapped and screwed it to the side plate of the box to ensure that the attachment is strong.
The box comes with some touch-up paint which would be enough to paint the whole of the back of the box if you would also like that to be red.

I've superimposed the box on a couple of images of a Victorian wall-box in order to show you how it would look in situ.
