For auction is a well-built early hetchel or flax-comb that dates to the early 1800s. Is is iron-banded on both ends near the holes that were used to attach the hetchel to a work surface. The piece is not signed or dated but it shows excellent craftsmanship. The piece measures 14 1/4" by 4". The spikes are 3 3/4" long and are hand forged.
