Antique brown leather French Hunter’s bag ca. 1890s 🍁

French hunters would commonly store ferrets in these bags for their scent to lure prey out, hence the breathing holes!

This bag has beautifully aged with the color variations in the leather and the green patina on the brass eyelet hardware.

It looks like there is an aged repair on a back corner of the bag. The inside is super clean and the closure/clasp works great.

•late 19th century

• 11” x 5” x 8.5”

• 22” drop at the shortest point on the leather strap and can go 9.5” longer with adjustable holes

I’ve not waxed this as I prefer the weathered leather look but would surely shine up if desired.
