First flown in August 1963 this extradenary  Mach 3 capable aircraft was built in secrecy as Archangel and in 1965 set a speed record of 2070 mph.  The futuristic Hughs missiles proved to be excellent and were developed as the Phoenix missile for the F 14 Tomcat fighter.  The YF 12A never went into production as a fighter, but did evolve into the SR 71, one of the most famous planes of all time.  This model is finished in gloss black and silver and is very large.  Best hung on a wall like the portrait that it is.
