"Loss of the Steamboat Swallow. On the Night of the 7th April 1845, on her passage from Albany to New York" "On the Night of the 7th April 1843, on her passage from Albany to New York, when opposite Hudson, near Athens, she struck a rock and broke in two, she had on board about 350 passengers, of whom nearly 100 are supposed to be lost."

This unsigned lithograph is very similar to the print of  Nathaniel Currier. It looks more likely to be an unsigned J. BAILLIE LITHOGRAPH.  This lithograph depicts a rescue attempt, with lifelines out and men in boats holding up torches while they seek victims in the stormy waters.

This sm. Folio Measures 12 1/4" by 8 1/4." With margins this measures 13 5/8" by 8 3/4." Very nice vivid Colors! Overall its in good condition without any tearing or repairs.
