Sapphire

Ethiopian Opal

New with tag. Lovely ring in size 7 created by Indonesian artisans.  The main stone is a natural sapphire mined in Madagascar that has been diffused to enhance the color.  The side stones are genuine opals from the Welo region of Ethiopia.  The setting is genuine sterling silver, stamped 925.

The sapphire is such a dark blue that it almost appears black.  As with many genuine gemstones, this stone may have some inclusions.  It is a 10X8mm oval cut stone and weighs 3.08cts.  On either shoulder is a 6X4mm oval cut opal.  The opals dance with flashes of greens, blues, and pinks. The photos in this listing were taken in regular sunlight coming through my living room window.  No artificial light was used.   All of the stones together in this ring add up to 3.7cts.  The sterling silver setting surrounds each opal with the graceful form of a swan, and sterling silver flowers form the prongs that hold the sapphire.  The sterling silver under gallery of this ring is formed with silver swirls, and the ring weighs 10.5 grams
