Self-produced first album ``Funeral''. ``Funeral'' was dedicated to nine of the members' close relatives who passed away during production, including Alvino Rey, the grandfather of core member Win Butler and a renowned pedal steel master. A beautiful collection of works.
Nominated for the 2005 Juno Award for "Alternative Album of the Year", the 2006 Grammy Award for "Best Alternative Music Album", and the same year's BRIT Award for "International Album". It was ranked 2nd on Pitchfork's "The Top 200 Albums of the 2000s" and 6th on Rolling Stone's "100 Best Albums of the 2000s."
