An attractive Japanese box with a lovely patina. The copper base has a scale effect finish. I assume that the white metal overlay, which is deeply embossed on the lid, is antimony. This is shallower around the sides where the copper is coming through. The only damage I can see is to one of the feet, which has been pushed slightly inwards and has a small split where it joins the base. The hinge is sound.
