Edgar Percival was a WW1 Fighter Pilot who served with 60 Sqn,
Commanded by AVM Billy Bishop VC in France and then with 111 Sqn in Palestine.
During the 1920's he operated many former WW1 aircraft in Australia and in 1931
founded Percival Aircraft, famous for the Gull, Mew Gull and Vega Gull, which
built nearly 3000 proctors for military use in WW11.This cover was taken by
courier from Estourmel in France to Wildenrath in Germany on the 2 June 1977,
the 60th Anniversary of the attack that led to the award of the Victoria Cross
to Billy Bishop. It was later flown to London by No 60 Sqn Subsequently Flown by Air Canada across the Atlantic to Toronto and back to
