Antique 19th Century French Marble Double Inkwell & Letter Holder
Removeable Two hinged Silver metal and Cut Crystal ink pots  (most likely Baccarat inkwells) on a curved Calacatta marble base with double bevelled edge and curved scallop edge corners.
This lavish French Louis XV / Empire Napoleonic /George III period inkwell is as functional as it is beautiful. I can honestly say I have never seen another inkwell as nice as this one.
This handsome desk accessory consists of four marble parts; the beautiful calacatta marble backsplash with a carved and sculpted calacatta marble cornice, on a calacatta marble curved double beveled edge base with  two marble slots attached to hold letters & pens, and it stands on four round marble feets
In an opulent Louis XV style, the cornice design incorporates a simple fillagree swag  swirl ornament design balanced pattern across the top of the backsplash making this inkwell truly stunning.
The two marble slots  have curved indentations to hold letters and or pens.
The luxury materials and skilled execution add to this inkwell's charm and rarity
Original patina. Circa 1800 - 1840
Condition very well but it does have two chips on the backside of base and one of the slots attached to base has a slight crack(Not noticable unless pointed out). In addition, the crystal inkwells have a few flea bites not noticiable unless pointed out.
