This exquisite map of Africa from 1874 crafted by cartographer and publisher Adolf Stieler showcases the continent's regions and countries in beautiful detail. The map has been carefully preserved over the years and is in excellent condition.

I designed and hand made the deep frame from rough cut hardwood. The outer edge of the frame retains the rough original finish of the hardwood while the face and inner edges were shaped with a router in a unique design. It is finished with a satin black paint to complement the black and white map. The map has distinctive features including an elevation profile of the continent in the lower right. It is double matted with a dark grey inside matte and the outside matte compliments the background color of the map. The frame is 25” wide and 23” tall and 1” thick.

We had this map up in a center point location in our house for years but recently moved and it now doesn’t have a place in our new house. It is too beautiful to put away so I hope someone else can enjoy it for years. It would be terrific over a fireplace, in a living room, den or home office.
