Light to moderate toning, soiling to title page of Bellingham, internally clean. ,850. * An exemplary gathering of five tracts, four of them concerning the trials of Douglas and M'Laren, the first trials for sedition held in Scotland during the aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars, a time of acute economic distress and social protest. These took place concurrently with the London trials of William Hone. Douglas, an eccentric non-conformist minister, poet, abolitionist and visionary soci.
