This is a brand new, in an unopened box, 1:18 scale model of the 1961 Packer Pontiac Super Stock race car. Packer Pontiac was a popular Pontiac Dealer in Detroit Michigan in the 1960’s. They sponsored this drag racing car for advertising purposes. it’s racing number was 7-11 3rd (for good luck!).

The car ordered without a radio, heater, sound deadener, undercoating or power accessories. It was ordered with a 348 horsepower 389 cubic inch engine. However, “qualified racers” like Mickey Thompson, Arnie Beswick, and Stan Antlocer also got add on “Super Duty” parts such as a high lift camshaft, high compression cylinder heads, an aluminum three carburetor intake manifold, free flowing aluminum exhaust headers, and more, which bumped the horsepower to 368.

Packer Pontiac 7-11 3rd. was a popular crowd pleaser at Detroit Dragway, as well as at dragstrips in Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Packer Pontiac was runner up at the 1962 NHRA Nationals (a pulled rocker arm stud prevented it from winning).  Later in 1962 the car was destroyed in a towing accident on the freeway.

In the year 2000, I found a model match 1961 Pontiac Catalina, and with the help of the original owner, Stan Antlocer, over a period of four years we recreated Antlocer’s beloved 1961 Pontiac Catalina. The last few photos shows the car in action.

Antlocers best time with the real car was 12.93 at 110 mph on 7” Atlas Bucron tires, with a 421 engine. He typically ran in the 13:30 elapsed times at about 108 with the SD 389 engine. My best time was 12.85 at 108 mph on 9” slicks, with a SD 389 engine.

BTW, I was the person who commissioned these 1961 Packer Pontiac model cars to be created. The car you will receive is brand new, in an unopened box.

One, last thing. If you “make an offer” but don’t hear back from me wait a day or two and try again. My computer has been giving me fits and I’m a computer dinosaur on top of it. Thx, “Pontiac John”.
