This is a first-generation COPY of a script from the 227 TV series (not a transcript or Photoshop recreation). The original 1989 script was used by veteran actor Paul Winfield (smudges of makeup are on the front) who played the 227 building’s new snide and wealthy landlord for the final season. The script was signed by Winfield, star Marla Gibbs (Mary), and Curtis Baldwin (neighbor Rose's grandson, Calvin).  A copy is being offered here.

When Mary causes Lester (Hal Williams) to miss a prizefight, they have a bout that could deliver a knockout punch to their marriage, so Lester stays with swinging bachelors Dylan and Travis. This was the fourth episode of the fifth season to air on NBC but, based on the production number, was the first one filmed and Winfield’s first as a series regular.

The rest of the sitcom’s cast includes Alaina Reed Hall, Jackée Harry, Helen Martin, and Regina King (prior to becoming an Academy Award and Emmy Award-winning actress).

The script's cover has been reproduced in color and a sheet of acetate is included to keep it looking pristine (to be honest, this copy looks better than the original). The script pages are printed on one side. Great care has been taken to make this a piece that a TV collector will be proud to own and display. Let me know if this is a present and I will put the script in a gift bag and attach a blank note card (see photo).
