Dopin Dan #3 in  Very Fine Minus Condition.

1st Print.

The third issue of Dopin' Dan features chapters 5 to 12 of "Uncle Sam's Cabin," followed by Dan's discharge from the Army after the war ends. Dan heads home to his family in the deep South, where we catch a peek of his Southern-fried origins.

There are four printings of Dopin' Dan #3, and I think they are all by Last Gasp.

It is currently unknown how many copies were produced for any of the printings.

The four printings are easily distinguished by their cover prices, which are 50 cents, 75 cents, $1.00 and $1.25.

This cover price data conflicts with information provided in the Kennedy Guide (which we know is erroneous) and on the ugcomix.info website (which we think is erroneous).

The logo on the front cover's upper left corner of the first three issues is for Cocoanut Comix, an imprint related to the Air Pirates collective, whose membership included Ted Richards. The first three issues of Dopin' Dan, though distributed by Last Gasp, were actually Air Pirates collective publications, as were Dan O'Neill's Comics and Stories, Merton of the Movement, Left Field Funnies, and The Dirty Duck Book.
