Vintage George Ahgupuk Caribou Skin Dog Sledding Original Framed Artwork

This piece is in GREAT condition!

The artist passed away in 2001.

Was obtained by previous owner directly from Alaska over 40 years ago.

Has “Caribou Skin” written on it, indicating it was drawn on Caribou Skin! The artist used animal skins which he used his own top secret bleaching technique and recipe.

It is not dated. The artist did not begin painting until he was injured in the 1934 and had to take an extended time off from hunting and fishing for medical care. He originally marketed his paintings to Alaskan Tourists until the late 1960s, where the first and only owner purchased it!

It is framed and mounted with a high quality black frame with glass and wired for hanging. This is an estate item which was cherished by its previous owner.
