DATING TO THE 1840’S
THIS PIECE IS HAND SEWN THROUGHOUT AND FASHIONED OF A BEAUTIFUL FLORAL AND LEAF PRINT CHALLIS WOOL WITH THE COLLAR TRIMMED IN BLACK SILK TAFFETA.
PIPING RUNS ATOP EACH SHOULDER AS WELL AS AROUND THE CAP DETAIL OF THE LOWER SHOULDER WITH A SMALL VENT GATHERING AT THE SHOULDER TRIMMED ALL ALONG THE EDGES IN SILK FRINGE. INTERIOR IS LINED IN A BLUE GLAZED COTTON.
CONDITION: SMALL HIGH POINT FRAY SEEN TO THE CAP SHOULDERS AS WELL AS SEVERAL SMALL POINTS IN THE SHOULDER FABRIC. TWO UNEVEN BASTED PLEATS WERE TAKEN TO THE CENTER REAR. THERE IS ONE TINY FRAY BENEATH ONE OF THE PLEATS, I THINK IT WAS DONE TO JUST SHORTEN AND COULD BE RELEASED IF DESIRED.
