Viton fuel filler cap seal is supplied bonded to a steel dished plate and is a direct swap for the original part. When the filler cap is closed, it seals against the fuel tank filler neck in the fuel tank. There is also an internal seal with a garter type spring on this component which on these new replacements has been improved. The third and forth pictures on this listing are of a complete filler cap just to show where the seal fits. This listing is not for a complete filler cap !

If you have water in the fuel tank, also make sure the water drain hole (from under filler cap to rubber pipe on rear of fuel tank) is clear.
