Antique 1860-1870 Holdcroft, Hall & Mellor large earthenware wash basin or bowl, made in England.
Pattern is called "Flaxman", after John Flaxman who designed for Wedgwood in the 18th and 19th century.
The scene on the bowl depicts Jupiter (aka Zeus) and Thetis, based off John Flaxman's drawing of "Thetis entreating Jupiter to honour Achilles" completed in 1805.
Great condition with no chips or cracks, general wear to transfer designs.
