Excavated in Hukawng Valley of Northern Myanmar (formerly Burma). Burmite is one of the oldest ambers in the world. It has been dated at 98.2 to 99.4 million years ago, based on Pb isotope analysis.
The fossils associated with this Cretaceous-aged amber have aroused the interest of many scientists around the world. Many new species are being discovered and classified from Burmite.
