This filter is great if you want to experiment with different infrared wavelengths without having to keep changing filters. It is also cost effective compared to buying several fixed wavelength filters.
These filters are best used on a camera converted to IR or full-spectrum or you may need long exposures and a tripod especially at the higher end of the IR spectrum. With a converted camera, you can shoot handheld just as you normally would.
Always shoot in "RAW" if you can as this gives you much more leeway when editing. They can be saved as JPEG or TIFF afterwards.
If you are new to IR photography, you will need a photo editor in order to properly white balance and colour swap the red and blue channels for the desired colour balance effects and blue skies. I can fully recommend "Raw Therapee" which is free and does everything. This is what I use myself. Once you get the hang of it you will find it easy to use, and there are plenty of tutorial videos online.
