This is a vintage Griswold Slant EPU logo full text No 9
cast iron round/handle griddle, with the visually appealing X reinforcement.
Pattern 739-B. The number 9 size seems to be a more popular / more useful size,
with larger No 10s being too large and having uneven heating, and No 8s and
smaller being just a bit too small. The cooking surface has fine patches
of etching from corrosion. While they can be easily seen, they
are undetectable as you glide your fingers over a a near glass smooth
surface. Three sheets of printer paper slipped under one edge
on the bottom stops movement on a granite surface. No chips, cracks or
repairs and does not spin.
Test for flatness of skillet. With the item resting on a
polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim searching for
movement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one
edge of the until item stops moving. No chips, cracks or repairs.
This item was stripped down to bare metal using collector
approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal
of all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more. The item is
lightly seasoned with one round of Crisco at 450 for 1 hour. This item was
photographed in a very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these
lighting conditions, the item will take on a brown color. Items are much darker
under normal light. Photos are part of the item’s description. Please use them
for a clearer understanding of items’ overall condition. If you have any
