This is a vintage Griswold Slant EPU logo full text No 9 cast iron round/handle griddle, with the visually appealing X reinforcement. Pattern 739-B. The number 9 size seems to be a more popular / more useful size, with larger No 10s being too large and having uneven heating, and No 8s and smaller being just a bit too small.  The cooking surface has fine patches of etching from corrosion.  While they can be easily seen, they are undetectable as you glide your fingers over a a near glass smooth surface.  Three sheets of printer paper slipped under one edge on the bottom stops movement on a granite surface.  No chips, cracks or repairs and does not spin.

Test for flatness of skillet. With the item resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim searching for movement.  If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the until item stops moving. No chips, cracks or repairs.
