MID-CENTURY MODERN SWISS GILT-BRASS DESK ALARM CLOCK

SOLD BY PRESTIGIOUS

BLACK, STARR & GORHAM, NEW YORK

This handsome timepiece is from my personal collection of clocks curated since 1972.

Concord (favored by Tiffany & Co.) along with Swiss competitors Imhof, Looping, Angelus and Luxor manufactured the best jeweled lever alarm, desk and shelf clocks.

Machined of solid brass with polished and satin finishes.  Circular base with molded rim.  Deep bezel with beveled crystal pivots between an arch-form upright.  Matte silvered dial with bold applied Roman numerals and domed hour markers.   Gilt stick hands and alarm pointer easy read at a distance.   Rear of case carries original owner's monogram.

Eight-day Cortland / Concord Watch Co. movement with damascene plates and 15-jewel lever escapement.  Winding the alarm mainspring via uppermost knurled knob raises a small button atop the movement cover.  Bell is silenced by depressing the button.

The clock presents handsomely and is fully operational.

NOTE:  I've not serviced the movement and cannot guarantee years of "maintenance free" enjoyment.

3.5" high (case positioned straight up), 3.4" wide
