This Sony flash is fully
compatible with your Sony Alpha DSLR and SLT. It is a little more difficult to
find because of its popularity on the used market because it is also compatible
with Minolta Maxxum film cameras and Minolta 5D and 7D digital cameras.
This particular flash, (S/N 21710xx)
looks to be in mint minus condition.
There
are a few light scuffs on the body, and some wear around the battery cover
door. There was some leakage inside the
battery compartment which looks worse in the photo than it is. The
flash operates fine, and all battery contacts complete the circuit.
The
Sony soft case included.
This flash is only compatible
with Sony E mount cameras that have a multi-interface shoe. This includes the
A6000 series and A7 series. Please check your camera or online if you are not
sure about compatibility.
The flash is not compatible
with Sony Alpha DSLRs and SLTs as this flash has the multi-interface.
The HVL-F43M is the significantly
upgraded replacement for the older F42AM, with slightly more power output (a GN
of 43m vs. 36m) and a several extra and useful features. The head pivots and
bounces as before but now locks in at specific detents. Furthermore, you get
the Quick Shift Bounce seen in the F58AM that pivots the head into Portrait
shooting position. The 15mm diffuser (vs. 16mm in the F42AM) and bounce card is
recessed and attached to the head – you simply pull it out and flip it down for
use. You will not be able to lose it!
The HVL-F43M can be used as a
Wireless Master Controller, not just as a slave, and a modelling light mode is
included too.
Quicker recycling, more
flashes per battery set, improved controls and ergonomics…..it is a well-designed
flash.
The F43M has manual power
settings, a big feature not found on the F36AM, with full, ½, ¼, and so on down
to 1/128 power, again an improvement over earlier models. There is a “test”
fire button as well for easier use in portrait/light meter shooting and set up.
