A rare sterling silver box. the lid is decorated in repousse with two naked Olympic athletes, a Greek lady with a torch and a Greek lady with a harp. In the background various Greek temples, trees, flowers, plants and mountains. This performance is most likely inspired by the second modern Olympic Games, held in the year 1900.

Sides are completely decorated with repousse with acanthus leaves.

The lid is gilded on the inside and has minor signs of wear, normal for its age.

Hallmarked for English 925 silver, Chester year letter R for 1900 and maker's mark for George Nathan & Ridley Hayes.
