Given that mix of low weight and features, this jacket is ideal for fast and light adventures like, say, a long-distance fast-packing trips around the UK where you require full weather protection. While many lighter waterproof jackets will be lacking in the essential features for long distance trips, the Adidas Terrex Myshelter is more than capable of keeping you going after hours on the trail.

Materials and Construction

As the name suggests, this waterproof jacket is made using a Gore-Tex Active membrane. For those unaware, Active represents the lightest and most breathable 3-layer technology in Gore-Tex’s evolving lineup. It involves a thin face fabric, lightweight membrane and an equally thin c-knit backer material in an effort to keep the weight as low as possible.

Features

Something this jacket has that sets it apart, from the sometimes confusing amount of waterproof jackets on the market right now, is the use of Gore-Tex Active alongside a packed feature set. With many brands using heavy fabrics for feature-heavy designs and lightweight fabrics with minimal designs, it’s refreshing to see this approach from Adidas.

Features include two pockets at the hip, a large helmet-compatible hood, pit zips and oversized zipper pulls that can be used with gloves. There are also beefed up adjustable velcro cuffs to help seal out any incoming harsh weather and on the inside of the jacket you’ll find an inner chest pocket. The whole thing is then wrapped up with reflective detailing to keep you visible during dark evenings on the hill.

This combination of lightweight materials and impressive level of features brings the jacket up to a weight of 360 grams. Nothing too shabby at all.
