Here we have a stunning, original, one-of-a-kind, mid-century modern sculptural bowl wheel-thrown and glazed by Edna Arnow (Chicago, Illinois, 1921-2013.) Textured glaze with abstract pattern, primarily in deep blues and black. Stunning piece by a potter who is becoming more and more collectible -- see more about her on the family's website, arnow dot org. Would make an especially fabulous gift for a Chicagoan (or former-) who is into pottery and MCM, especially those connected to the Rogers Park neighborhood, where Arnow lived and worked in her studio. Signed on bottom. We have lots of vintage and antique art pottery in our store, to which we add new inventory daily, and we're always happy to combine shipping at actual cost.

Approximate Measurements: 8" diameter; 3.75" height

ConditionOur photographs reveal the condition best -- please enlarge and zoom in on them, and examine them carefully. Very clean and fresh piece, with no chips, cracks, or crazing. Textured glaze has expected and desirable surface variations intended by the potter. There are rub marks that cannot be felt, and can only be seen at certain angles in direct light, going around the interior of the bowl at the center that are consistent with another bowl's having been set within it, as in the way graduated mixing bowls are stacked. Can't be felt, so they're not scratches, and they don't go all the way around, just in sections, so we can't say for certain what their cause is, or whether they are a maker's flaw, a flaw from use, or even a flaw at all. See photo with arrows highlighting this. Beautiful piece, certain to go up in value as Arnow's works become more collectible and less scarce, and a fine example of her textured glaze work.

ShippingYou are free to choose between at least two shipping methods, if not more, but you can only do that by scrolling to the Shipping section below (if on the app/a cell phone) or by clicking on the "SEE DETAILS" link to the right of the "Shipping" amount noted next to the photos (if on the browser/computer version.) These are the only ways to view all of your shipping options (including their costs and arrival dates.) The amount shown for shipping on the listing page shows that for only one possible shipper, whose price may be the highest, as opposed to the lowest, and whose speed might be the slowest instead of the one that will get your item to you by the time you need it. You have to dig for more information, but it's worth knowing all of your options before purchasing, right?

We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report. Corndogcache is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we'll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (or anything else) from activities they may have been involved in before they came to us.
