CHRISTOPHER DRESSER FOR HUKIN AND HEATH SUGAR BOWL AND SPOON - BARK DESIGN

This beautiful sugar bowl and sifter spoon were designed by Dr. Christopher Dresser for Hukin and Heath in 1880.
Unusual to see as a complete set and in excellent condition with first-class electroplating evident in the bark effect, which is hand hammered with accented leaves. It is representative of the Victorian aesthetic movement.

Christopher Dresser was highly selective with those he worked with and he chose Hukin and Heath as silversmiths for his designs up until 1900. This bowl and spoon is clearly one of those memorable designs which is as appealing today as it was 140 years ago. .
