Product Description & Further Details

This unit has a resprayed front trim and an aftermarket blue battery clip, although this unit sounds great and it does have a little Wow and Flutter (see information below) and there are a few marks on the outer case.  This is what you would expect of an item of this age, overall this is in brilliant visual and working condition. Work Completed On This Unit As follows:- 

  • All Internal dirt or dust removed and cleaned.
  • New belts fitted.
  • New Idlers fitted were needed.
  • Pinch Roller fitted.
  • Capstan Cleaned and checked.
  • Operational Parts Re-oiled / Greased Were required.
  • Any Dry solder Joints Re-soldered.
  • Capacitors replaced Were Required.
  • Applied Contact Cleaner on all Switch's , Contacts and Potentiometers.
  • Re-align the Play head were required (Azimuth).
  • Demagnetized Play Back Head and Tape Path.
  • Speed Set with lab reference tape and oscilloscope.
  • Full External sanitize and clean.
  • Any other bespoke servicing or repair as required completed.
  • All Functions checked were possible.

Please Note: The unit is fully operational and functions as intended. Everything that is shown in pictures is what it comes with and shows its condition, I have tried to describe the item to the best of my ability. 

Wow and Flutter: This is the waver in a reproduced tone or group of tones that is caused by irregularities in the tape drive speed during recording, duplication, or playing. For example, a change in the angular velocity of the capstan, or dragging of the tape audio cassette shell. The terms "wow and flutter" are often referred to together, flutter being a higher-rate version of wow. All tape players have an amount of wow and flutter with most manufactures indicated their measured tolerance for their specific players when new, so beware of any claim of no wow and flutter in these units when buying. There are many factors that can increase wow and flutter mainly from age and use, this can be dirty or dry moving parts of the unit, including a dirty capstan, polished capstan, capstan bearings, dirty pinch roller/s, dirty head and dirty motor wheel after a belt change. A Worn belt, belt size, quality and pinch roller issue are also the main factors of wow and flutter. All these potential causes are meticulously checked during my refurbishments. Deformations in the cassette compartment can also be a cause, but this is obviously down to which cassette you use and its quality, I always advise a full REW and FF of an older tape before playing, which can help.

We only post items to mainland UK and Northern Ireland and countries in the global shipping program. Parcels are covered by standard compensation And tracked 1 - 5 day delivery service.

Returns We will take responsibility for the costs of your return only in the UK and only in the highly unlikely case where the item has a defect. In all other cases, we will not be responsible for the costs incurred for returning ordered items. If you are buying outside of the UK we use the GPS (eBay's Global Shipping Program), it's our policy that the buyer will be responsible for any return postage costs again this is only in the highly unlikely case where the item has a defect. We recommend that you ensure you obtain sufficient postal insurance in case your item goes missing on its way back to us.

The Vintage items I sell are obviously old and have been used by other people so you should expect some form of wear and tear. All items sold by me are cleaned, fully serviced and tested. I spend a lot of time and effort on each item sold in a meticulous refurbish effort, which is far more than just a belt change! Also, I always test the equipment for a great period of time before selling and every effort is made to accurately describe items including flaws. I try my very best to give an accurate description of each item and produce clear photos. Any major imperfections will be stated. Please read descriptions and study the pictures carefully to satisfy yourself that the item is up to your expectation. Batteries, power supplies , headphones, user instructions and original accessories are not included in the sale unless specifically indicated in the description or pictures. The YouTube video contains real footage and direct sound from these units, so you can hear exactly how they sound and operate. The recorded sound is a direct feed into a DLSR camera which has an auto record level adjustment, so on REW and FF or between tracks the record level increases to maximum, therefore the background hiss will be amplified to maximum. In my later video's I use a manual adjustment therefore the sound reproduction within the blank areas are far more natural sounding. YouTube video's and the thumbnail images of the units operating may include items not included in the sale, see the main images and description for confirmation.

Please be aware that any Power Supply you may use must be researched, I recommend you power the unit with batteries first. Any power supply used on this item must be the correct voltage type and polarity. I fully test every item before dispatch and I will not accept any returns where the seller has fried the servo chip by using an incorrect power supply.

Serial numbers are recorded, item security marked and tamper-proof sealed to prevent the fraudulent buyer
