Pure iron refers to industrial pure iron, and its iron content is 99.8% to 99.9%. The rest are more than a dozen impurity elements, such as C, Si, Mn, S, P, etc., of which carbon content accounts for about 0.0008% to 0.0218%. Δ-Fe with a melting point of 1538°C and zero carbon content is called pure iron.

Pure iron is a ferromagnetic metal at room temperature, and it transforms into a non-ferromagnetic metal at a temperature higher than 770°C. This transition temperature is also called the Curie point.

The plasticity of pure iron decreases with increasing carbon content. Industrial pure iron with a carbon content (mass fraction) of 0.02% still has good cold and hot processing plasticity, and can be cold rolled into thin plates, strips, bars, etc.
