Original historic pastel color drawing from courtroom trials of Watergate sketched by Pat Davies. This sketch is unsigned.

14” x 17” on plain artist stock drawing paper, removed from the artist sketchpad.

Original Watergate sketch of the President Nixon White House Special Investigations Unit, more commonly know as the Plumbers. This sketch is of G. Gordon Liddy, Bernard Barker, Eugenio R. Martinez by courtroom artist Pat Davies. The three plumbers were on trial on July 1, 1974 the date of the sketch for the burglary of psychiatrist Dr. Lewis Fielding’s office, the psychiatrist of Daniel Ellsberg who released the Pentagon Papers. The Plumbers were trying to find information to discredit Ellsberg. On July 12, 1974 all three were found guilty on one count of conspiracy. The three men were also part of the Watergate break in which lead to the resignation of President Nixon. Eugenio Martinez who used to work for the CIA was pardoned by President Reagan in 1983, making him one of only two people pardon from the Watergate scandal, the other being Richard Nixon who was pardoned by President Ford.

This sketch is of a major historical event in the United States and one of the most fascinating pieces of Presidential history.

These drawings were done in a time when cameras where banned from courtrooms and only a few professional sketch artists were allowed access. Possible done for the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

Good condition with some slight aging, should frame nicely.
