Cattaraugus County NY Receipt Book - Harris Gilbert Cattle Buyer

Measures 3¾" x 6" About 100 pages with handwritten receipts. Written on first page: Cattaraugus County - Chautauqua County - Harris Gilbert. He was a drover and cattle buyer, I think he was from Farmersville. The name Mr. Henry Geiss appears in each entry, My guess is he was a buyer/accountant/partner for Gilbert. Book starts in 1830 and the first 50 or so pages are from the 1830's, the remainder is 1840's, 50's & 60's, the last couple are 1870's. Book is about 3/4 full. Some mention: Lot of Cattle, Mortgage Bond, Real Estate, Lot of Sheep, Heffers, Cows etc. Not all entries mention what they were for. Many signatures.

Heavy wear to boards, fairly tight binding. No loose or torn pages.
