This stunning rare piece of folk art embroidered cloth handmade in Hungary was brought back from travels in the early 1900s along with other artefacts.

It is exquisitely worked using gold and silver thread along with vibrant coloured  silks on to a black baize cloth with a central medallion of gold and silver.

It measures 130 x130 cm and was likely to have been made as a wedding present as there are hearts as part of the pattern.  The edges are unfinished.  I have shown a couple of images of the underside.  I hope the photos show its true beauty well.
