About the artist: Donald Jack Pollard (1932-2003) 
Polland is one of the premier sculptors of the American West. His love for the West, and particularly horses, spending time on his uncle's ranches in Utah during his early years. Polland held several jobs prior to becoming a full time artist including jockey, electrician, farmer, commercial artist and teacher in his own art school. Polland's work is permanently displayed at the Whitney Gallery of Western Art (Cody, Wyoming); and the C. M. Russell Gallery and Museum (Great Falls, Montana). His work at auction has become increasingly sought since his passing in 2003.
